As our Tiger football season comes to an end, a couple students reflect on the importance of pep-rallies and the energy they create:
"Pep-rallies are a great way to show school spirit and pump up the football players and students. The pep-rallies here at SJS are super fun and spirited. We have great cheerleaders who are always trying to get all of the students involved and cheering with us. Our Athletic Director, Coach Harper, plays a big part in our pep-rallies. When the cheerleaders aren't doing a cheer or chant, Coach Harper is at the front and doing his best to get everyone involved and to showing some great Tiger Spirit. Also at our pep-rallies, we do several cheers and chants, but we also have a victory yell, a skit, a game, two-bits, and our Alma Mater. All of the kids love the victory yell! It is a surprise because each cheerleader has a grade level and it switches each week, so the kids don't know who has their grade. It also is just another amazing way to show our Tiger Pride. After that, we do two-bits and everyone gets super pumped up for it! We may be a small school, but we definitely can be LOUD! After two-bits, we have our school song, the Alma Mater, and everyone joins the cheerleaders by raising one fist in the air and singing along. It's a great way to show our pride and love for SJS and be super excited for football games. I promise you, our pep-rallies are - for sure - the BEST!" - Riley Witte
"Pep-rallies at SJS are full of school spirit! We have victory yells, dress-up contests, cheers, dances, and everyone's favorite - Tommy the Tiger!!! First, we run in and do a cheer to get everyone up-lifted and warmed up! Then we do chants, dances, and cheers. Then, my favorite part - the Mascot Skit!!! It's either a game against the football boys, or someone from the crowd, or a skit that makes everyone laugh! After that, we do tow-bits, which gets everyone so excited. And last, but not least, we wrap up the pep-rally with our school song (Alma Mater). Our school pep-rallies are so much fun and cool - you all should come! It'll get you excited and ready for the football game that is usually after the pep-rally!" -Stratton Pavliska
